The Alpha-1 Foundation Ireland is currently involved in an exciting Irish Research Council funded project in collaboration with Dublin City University Sport and MedEx Wellness. Eóin Durkan from the School of Health and Human Performance in DCU is examining the use of exercise in the treatment of people with Alpha-1 and COPD. Another aim of the project is to find out how physically active people with Alpha-1 are.
An accomplished athlete himself, Eóin is passionate about the potential of exercise as a therapy for body and mind, particularly in those with an illness or chronic condition. An exciting new development is the launch of the MedEx Home Programme which now makes the DCU exercise project accessible to those living not only in the greater Dublin area but throughout the country. If you would like to know more or are interested in taking part, please contact Eóin Durkan at eoin.durkan@dcu.ie, or simply call 01-7008470.
